Inhale (film)
Inhale is a 2010 American crime thriller film directed by Baltasar Kormákur and starring Dermot Mulroney, Diane Kruger, and Rosanna Arquette.
The film centers on Paul Stanton (Mulroney), a district attorney in New Mexico, and his wife Diane (Kruger) who are desperately trying to find a lung donor for their daughter Chloe, who suffers from cystic fibrosis. Frustrated by the slow pace of the legal adoption system and Chloe's rapidly deteriorating health, Paul begins an illegal search for a suitable organ. This quest takes him to Ciudad Juarez, Mexico, a city plagued by violence and corruption stemming from the black market organ trade.
While in Juarez, Paul uncovers a complex web of criminal activity and moral compromises. He encounters individuals who are both victims and perpetrators within the organ harvesting system, forcing him to confront the ethical implications of his actions. As he delves deeper into the underworld, he puts himself and his family at risk, blurring the lines between justice and desperation.
Inhale explores themes of parental love, desperation, the ethics of organ donation, and the socioeconomic factors that contribute to exploitation and crime along the U.S.-Mexico border. The film received mixed reviews upon its release, with critics praising the performances and Kormákur's direction, but noting shortcomings in the script and overall pacing.
