John Whiteside (cricketer)

John Whiteside (born circa 1856, died 26 March 1917) was an Irish cricketer.

Whiteside was a right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-pace bowler. He played mainly for Dublin University Cricket Club and appeared in first-class cricket for Dublin University against Cambridge University in 1882. This was his only recorded first-class match. He scored 4 runs in the first innings and 2 runs in the second. He took no wickets.

Beyond this solitary first-class appearance, information regarding his cricketing career is limited. However, his association with Dublin University suggests he was a prominent player within the university and local Dublin cricketing scene during the late 19th century. He died in Dublin in 1917.
