John Newlove (rugby league)

John Newlove (born 17 September 1945 in Castleford, West Riding of Yorkshire, England) is a former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s. He primarily played as a centre.

Newlove began his career with Castleford, where he enjoyed considerable success. He was known for his powerful running and defensive capabilities. He was a key member of the Castleford team that won the Challenge Cup in 1969, defeating Salford 11-6 at Wembley Stadium.

Following his time at Castleford, Newlove also played for Hull Kingston Rovers and Wakefield Trinity. He represented Great Britain in several international matches. His career spanned over a decade, during which he established himself as a respected and influential player in the sport.
