John Lloyd (rector of Caerwys)

John Lloyd (d. 1613) was a Welsh clergyman and rector of Caerwys in Flintshire, Wales. He is primarily known for his significant contributions to the translation of the Bible into Welsh. Lloyd collaborated with William Morgan, the Bishop of St Asaph, on the revised edition of the Welsh Bible published in 1588. His particular area of focus was the Old Testament. While details of his life are scant, his contribution to making the Bible accessible to Welsh speakers secured his place in Welsh history and religious scholarship.
