James Seaton (Newfoundland politician)

James Seaton (1868 – 1937) was a merchant and politician in Newfoundland. He represented Bonavista Bay in the Newfoundland House of Assembly from 1913 to 1919 as a member of the People's Party.

Born in Greenspond, Bonavista Bay, Seaton was a prominent businessman in the area. He operated a mercantile business and was involved in the fishery.

Seaton entered provincial politics in 1913, successfully contesting the Bonavista Bay district as part of Sir Robert Bond's People's Party. He served in the House of Assembly until 1919, during a period of significant political change in Newfoundland. Seaton did not seek re-election after 1919.

His business interests and community involvement continued after his time in the House of Assembly. He died in Greenspond in 1937.
