James Kenyon (politician)

James Kenyon (1846 – 1924) was a British Conservative Party politician. He served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Bury from 1903 to 1906.

Kenyon was born in Accrington, Lancashire. He was a successful cotton manufacturer and businessman in the region, owning and operating several mills. He was active in local politics before entering national politics, serving on the local council.

He was elected to the House of Commons at a by-election in March 1903, following the death of the sitting Conservative MP, James Duckworth. His victory was considered significant as it came in a traditionally Liberal-supporting constituency.

Kenyon served a single term in Parliament. He was defeated at the 1906 general election by the Liberal candidate, George Toulmin. After losing his seat, Kenyon largely retired from public life, focusing on his business interests.
