James Alleyn (judge)

James Alleyn was an English judge who served during the late 16th and early 17th centuries. He was a Baron of the Exchequer from 1597 until his death in 1603. Little is known of his early life, but he rose through the legal profession to become a prominent figure in the Exchequer court. His duties as a Baron involved hearing cases related to royal revenues and debts, and generally advising the Crown on financial matters. Alleyn was a respected jurist known for his diligence and integrity. He died in office.
