Ivan Pernar (politician, born 1889)
Ivan Pernar (born October 1, 1889, Kloštar Ivanić, Austria-Hungary; date of death unknown) was a Croatian politician associated with the Croatian Peasant Party (HSS). He was a member of the Constitutional Assembly of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes (later Yugoslavia) and a prominent figure in the HSS during the interwar period. Pernar was known for his staunch advocacy for Croatian peasant interests and his opposition to the centralist policies of the Yugoslav government. His political career was marked by periods of imprisonment and exile due to his outspoken criticism of the regime. Further biographical details, including the exact date and place of death, remain difficult to definitively source. He should not be confused with the later, more contemporary Croatian politician, also named Ivan Pernar.
