Ian Nelson (footballer)

Ian Nelson is a former professional Australian rules footballer who played for the Carlton Football Club in the Australian Football League (AFL).

Nelson was drafted by Carlton with pick number 63 in the 1999 AFL Draft. He made his senior debut in 2000. A key defender, Nelson was known for his strong marking and reliable disposal.

He played 35 games for Carlton between 2000 and 2003 before being delisted at the end of the 2003 season. After being delisted, he continued his football career at the Victorian Football League (VFL) level. Details of his VFL career are sparse, but he is known to have played for a period.
