Hu Baosen

Hu Baosen (胡保森, born approximately 1955, died circa 1994) was the Deputy Director of the Beijing Municipal Government Office and a high-ranking official in Beijing, China during the early 1990s. He is best known for his alleged involvement in economic crimes and corruption, specifically related to real estate development in Beijing. His death, officially ruled a suicide in 1994, occurred amidst an anti-corruption investigation and became a subject of public speculation and scrutiny. His case is notable for its connection to Chen Xitong, then the Party Secretary of Beijing, who was later investigated and convicted on corruption charges. Hu Baosen's death is often viewed as a significant event that foreshadowed a major crackdown on corruption within the Chinese Communist Party, particularly in the context of the rapid economic growth and increasing opportunities for graft that characterized the era.
