Bob Barber (cricketer)

Robert Eric Barber (born 24 May 1935) is a former English cricketer who played first-class cricket for Warwickshire and Cambridge University.

A right-handed batsman and occasional right-arm medium-pace bowler, Barber played for Warwickshire from 1955 to 1969, captaining the side from 1966 to 1968. He also played for Cambridge University from 1956 to 1958, gaining his Blue.

Barber was a consistent scorer for Warwickshire, and in 1961 scored 1,000 runs before the end of May, becoming only the tenth player to achieve this feat. His highest first-class score was 232 against Oxford University in 1958. He also scored 200 not out against Somerset in 1961.

After retiring from first-class cricket, Barber continued to play Minor Counties cricket for Shropshire. He also served as a cricket administrator and was involved in youth cricket development.
