Acornhoek is a town located in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality, Ehlanzeni District of Mpumalanga province, South Africa. It is situated near the border with Limpopo province. The town serves as a commercial and service hub for the surrounding rural communities, offering retail outlets, government services, and transport links. Acornhoek is located near several game reserves and areas popular for ecotourism, including the Kruger National Park. The area's economy is largely driven by agriculture and tourism. The population is predominantly composed of Shangaan people, with Xitsonga as the most widely spoken language. The name "Acornhoek" is believed to be derived from the abundance of marula trees in the area; the marula fruit is sometimes referred to as an "acorn" locally, and "hoek" is an Afrikaans word meaning corner or nook.
