Honda FCX

The Honda FCX was a series of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles developed by Honda Motor Co., Ltd. primarily between 2002 and 2008. It represented Honda's early efforts in developing and commercializing zero-emission vehicles using fuel cell technology.

The FCX utilized a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) to generate electricity from hydrogen and oxygen. This electricity then powered an electric motor, which in turn propelled the vehicle. The only emission from the tailpipe was water.

Different iterations of the FCX were produced, including the FCX-V1, FCX-V2, FCX-V3, and FCX-V4 concept vehicles. The production FCX, released in 2002, was leased to government and corporate entities in the United States and Japan. This leasing program allowed Honda to gather real-world data and refine the technology.

The FCX Clarity, launched in 2008, was a successor to the original FCX and represented a significant advancement in fuel cell vehicle technology. While not a direct continuation of the original FCX model line in name, the FCX Clarity built upon the research and development efforts of the earlier FCX vehicles. The FCX series played a crucial role in paving the way for Honda's subsequent fuel cell vehicle programs.
