Jatiuwung
Jatiuwung is a district (kecamatan) located in the city of Tangerang, Banten province, Indonesia. It is situated in the northern part of Tangerang city.
Jatiuwung is primarily a residential and industrial area. It is known for having a mix of housing complexes, factories, and small businesses. The district is connected to other areas of Tangerang and Jakarta via major roads and transportation networks.
Historically, the area was agricultural land that gradually transitioned into an urbanized zone due to the expansion of the greater Jakarta metropolitan area. Population growth in Jatiuwung has been driven by its proximity to employment opportunities and relatively more affordable housing compared to central Jakarta.
The district is administered by a camat (head of the district) who reports to the mayor of Tangerang. Jatiuwung is further subdivided into several kelurahan (villages or wards), each with its own administrative head.
Key landmarks within Jatiuwung include various factories, shopping areas, and residential estates. Like other urban areas in Indonesia, Jatiuwung faces challenges related to traffic congestion, waste management, and provision of public services.
