ORP Bielik (1965)

ORP Bielik was a Polish Navy submarine of the Whiskey class (Project 613). The name translates to "White Eagle" in English.

Bielik was one of four Whiskey-class submarines operated by Poland. These submarines were acquired from the Soviet Union in the 1960s. They represented a significant modernization of the Polish submarine fleet at the time.

Launched and commissioned into the Polish Navy in 1965, ORP Bielik served primarily in the Baltic Sea. Its main roles included anti-surface warfare, anti-submarine warfare, and reconnaissance. Like other Whiskey-class submarines, Bielik was equipped with torpedoes for engaging enemy ships and submarines.

The Whiskey-class submarines, while relatively advanced for their time, were eventually superseded by newer designs. ORP Bielik was decommissioned in the late 1980s.
