Hal Cole

Hal Cole (born Harold Cole, date unknown, died March 7, 1953) was an American criminal and confidence trickster who became a double agent during World War II. Initially operating in the black market in occupied France, he became an informant for the French police, and later the Gestapo. Cole's activities involved betraying members of the French Resistance and Allied airmen. After the war, he was captured, tried, and executed in France for treason and collaboration with the enemy. His story is often cited as an example of the complexities and moral ambiguities of wartime espionage.
