HMS Larne (1910)

HMS Larne was a Town-class light cruiser of the Weymouth sub-class built for the Royal Navy in the first decade of the 20th century. She was launched in 1910 and commissioned shortly after. Part of a class of ships designed for scouting and trade protection, Larne served primarily in foreign stations throughout her active career.

Initially assigned to the East Indies Station, Larne participated in patrol duties and the suppression of piracy in the region. With the outbreak of World War I in 1914, she was involved in operations against German commerce raiders and blockade running in the Indian Ocean and the Persian Gulf.

Throughout the war, Larne continued to patrol, protect convoys, and conduct reconnaissance missions. Following the Armistice in 1918, she returned to peacetime duties. She remained in service for a relatively short period after the war before being decommissioned and sold for scrap in the early 1920s. Her active participation during World War I cemented her place in naval history as a reliable and versatile light cruiser.
