Greatest Hits (Mariah Carey album)
Greatest Hits is a compilation album by American singer Mariah Carey, released in 2001. It comprises a selection of Carey's most successful singles from her albums released between 1990 and 2000, under Columbia Records. The album is divided into two discs: Disc 1, subtitled "Pop," features primarily uptempo and pop-leaning tracks, while Disc 2, subtitled "Ballads," contains mostly ballads and slower songs.
The album includes singles such as "Vision of Love," "Hero," "Fantasy," "One Sweet Day" (with Boyz II Men), "Without You," "Honey," and "Heartbreaker" (featuring Jay-Z). Greatest Hits also includes several lesser-known singles and album tracks chosen by Carey.
To coincide with the album's release, Carey embarked on a promotional tour. Greatest Hits was a commercial success, reaching high positions on album charts worldwide and achieving multi-platinum certification in several countries. It served as a retrospective of Carey's first decade in the music industry, highlighting her accomplishments as a singer, songwriter, and producer. The album is considered a key part of Carey's discography and a good introduction to her early work.
