Richard Lynch (Jesuit)
Richard Lynch (1611-1676) was an Irish Jesuit priest and theologian. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1630 and served as a professor of theology and philosophy at various Jesuit colleges in continental Europe, including in Belgium and possibly elsewhere. He is best known for his theological writings, which primarily focused on moral theology, especially questions relating to conscience and moral casuistry. Sources indicate his works were read and debated within theological circles of his time, but concrete biographical information beyond his religious affiliation and scholarly activity is limited. His writings are valuable historical resources for understanding theological discussions and moral debates within the Catholic Church during the 17th century.
