Ma Xinrui
Ma Xinrui (马兴瑞, born October 1959) is a Chinese politician and aerospace engineer. He is currently the Communist Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region and a member of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China.
Previously, Ma Xinrui served as the Governor of Guangdong Province. Before entering provincial-level politics, his career was largely centered around China's space program. He served as the General Manager of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC) and the Chief Commander of China's Lunar Exploration Program.
His early career involved academic research and teaching in mechanics. He holds a doctorate in engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology.
His political career trajectory reflects a pattern of promoting technocrats with strong scientific and engineering backgrounds to leadership positions within the Chinese Communist Party. His appointment to Xinjiang is viewed by some as a signal of the Party's continued emphasis on stability and development in the region.
