Nababeep

Nababeep is a small town located in the Northern Cape province of South Africa. It is situated approximately 56 kilometers (35 miles) northwest of Springbok, the regional capital. Nababeep's history is closely tied to copper mining, with operations dating back to the 19th century. The town served as a crucial center for the extraction and processing of copper ore, contributing significantly to the region's economic development. The town is named after a Nama word. The exact translation is debated, but generally believed to refer to a spring or watering place where Nama people could drink.
