Journey's End (2010 film)

Journey's End is a 2010 British war drama film directed by Saul Dibb. It is an adaptation of the 1928 play of the same name by R.C. Sherriff. While sharing the same source material and title as the more widely known 2017 film adaptation, this 2010 version features a different cast and a more understated, television film aesthetic.

The film depicts the experiences of a group of British officers in a dugout in the trenches of Saint-Quentin, Aisne, France, during the final months of World War I, leading up to the German spring offensive of 1918. The story focuses primarily on Captain Stanhope, a young officer battling alcoholism and shell shock, and the arrival of Raleigh, a young and idealistic new officer who idolizes Stanhope. The film explores themes of war, trauma, class, and the loss of innocence.
