Gmelinka
Gmelinka is a genus of small, often colorful, sea snails belonging to the family Mangeliidae. These are marine gastropod mollusks.
Members of the Gmelinka genus are typically found in tropical and subtropical waters. They are characterized by their slender, turreted shells, which often display intricate spiral sculpture and vibrant color patterns. The size of the shell usually remains small, rarely exceeding 10mm in length.
The diet of Gmelinka species is believed to consist primarily of small invertebrates. They are generally found in the intertidal zone or shallow subtidal environments, often associated with rocky or coral substrates.
While not as widely recognized as some other marine snail genera, Gmelinka species contribute to the biodiversity of their respective ecosystems. Current research regarding Gmelinka taxonomy is ongoing, and further studies are necessary to fully understand the evolutionary relationships and ecological roles of these small but ecologically important gastropods.
