Jaitsri
Jaitsri (also sometimes rendered as "Jaitasri") is a raga in Hindustani classical music. It is associated with a feeling of devotion and serenity, and is typically performed during the late afternoon or early evening.
The raga is part of the Marwa Thaat. Its ascent (Arohana) and descent (Avarohana) typically follow a specific pattern using the notes Sa Re Ga Ma Dha Ni Sa and Sa Ni Dha Ma Ga Re Sa, though variations exist depending on the particular gharana (musical tradition) and the performer's interpretation.
Key characteristics of Jaitsri include its characteristic phrases and the emphasis on certain notes, particularly the Re (Rishabh) and Dha (Dhaivat). The Ga (Gandhar) is often rendered as a Komal (flat) Ga in some renditions, although the specific usage can vary.
Jaitsri is considered a serious and profound raga. Its melodic structure lends itself to both contemplative and emotionally expressive compositions. Performances of Jaitsri often feature slow, elaborate alaps (improvisational introductions) and intricate taans (fast melodic runs).
