George Robert Smith (Canadian politician)
George Robert Smith (born November 7, 1905, in Morden, Manitoba – died February 9, 1993, in Winnipeg, Manitoba) was a politician in Manitoba, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1953 to 1969, representing the constituency of Pembina. He was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party of Manitoba.
Smith was a farmer before entering politics. He was first elected in the 1953 general election and re-elected in 1958, 1959, 1962, and 1966. During his time in the legislature, he served in various capacities, including as a backbench MLA and contributing to agricultural policy discussions. He did not seek re-election in the 1969 provincial election.
His contributions to the province were primarily focused on agricultural issues, reflecting the concerns of his rural constituency. After leaving politics, Smith returned to farming.
