George Palmer (British Army officer)
George Palmer (1856 – 28 June 1937) was a British Army officer who served in the Second Boer War and World War I. He was born in Dublin, Ireland.
Palmer was commissioned into the Royal Irish Regiment. He served in South Africa during the Second Boer War, including operations in Natal in 1899 and 1900. He received the Queen's South Africa Medal with clasps.
During World War I, Palmer commanded the 1st Battalion, Bedfordshire Regiment. He was later promoted to Brigadier-General and commanded the 111th Infantry Brigade, part of the 37th Division. He was mentioned in despatches multiple times and awarded the Companion of the Order of the Bath (CB).
After the war, Palmer retired from the army. He died in Bournemouth in 1937.
