Francis Ward (rugby union)

Francis Ward was an English rugby union player. He played as a forward for Cambridge University and earned one international cap for England in 1871, in the first ever international rugby match against Scotland. Details of his life beyond his rugby career are scarce. He is often mentioned in historical accounts of the match and in lists of early England international players.
