Joseph Gilbert (politician)
Joseph Gilbert (born 1865, died 1933) was an Australian politician. He served as a member of the South Australian House of Assembly from 1906 to 1933, representing the electorate of Barossa.
Gilbert was initially elected as a member of the Liberal and Democratic Union, which later merged with other conservative parties to form the Liberal Union, and subsequently the Liberal Federation. He was a strong advocate for rural interests and agricultural development within South Australia.
Throughout his tenure in parliament, Gilbert served on various committees and held several parliamentary positions. He was known for his conservative views and his commitment to representing the concerns of his constituents in the Barossa Valley. He held ministerial portfolios, including Commissioner of Crown Lands and Minister of Agriculture.
