Geojedo

Geojedo (거제도) is the second largest island in South Korea, located off the southeastern coast of the Korean Peninsula. It is part of Gyeongsangnam-do province and is administered primarily by the city of Geoje.

Geojedo is known for its natural beauty, including its rugged coastline, sandy beaches, and forested mountains. Popular tourist destinations include Haegeumgang (Sea Diamond), a rocky islet known for its scenic views, and Oedo Botania, a privately owned botanical garden on a small island just off the coast. The island also boasts several historical sites related to the Korean War, including the Geoje POW Camp, which housed prisoners of war during the conflict.

The island is connected to the mainland via the Geoje-Busan Fixed Link (Geoga Bridge), a series of bridges and undersea tunnels linking Geoje to Busan. Shipbuilding is a major industry on Geojedo, with several large shipyards located on the island. Fishing and tourism also contribute to the local economy.

Geojedo experiences a humid subtropical climate, characterized by hot, humid summers and mild winters. The island is a popular destination for both domestic and international tourists seeking to enjoy its natural scenery and recreational activities.
