Explorers Club (band)

The Explorers Club is an American rock band formed in Charleston, South Carolina in 2005. They are known for their meticulously crafted sound, drawing heavily from the influences of 1960s pop and sunshine pop artists such as The Beach Boys, The Beatles, The Zombies, and Burt Bacharach.

The band's founding member and primary songwriter is Jason Brewer. He envisioned a project that would recapture the lush harmonies and sophisticated arrangements of his favorite records from the 1960s.

The Explorers Club released their debut album, Freedom Wind, in 2009 to critical acclaim. The album showcased their ability to recreate the classic sounds of the 60s with remarkable accuracy, while also injecting their own contemporary sensibilities. Freedom Wind was noted for its strong melodies, intricate vocal harmonies, and high production value.

Following Freedom Wind, the band experienced lineup changes and a period of relative inactivity before releasing their second album, Grand Hotel, in 2012. Grand Hotel saw the band expand their sonic palette, incorporating influences from 1970s AM pop and soft rock, while still retaining their core focus on melody and harmony. While well-received, it differed enough from Freedom Wind that it garnered a mixed response from some fans.
