Barbuda (constituency)
Barbuda is a parliamentary constituency in Antigua and Barbuda. It elects one member to the House of Representatives, the lower house of the country's Parliament. The constituency covers the entire island of Barbuda.
Historically, the Barbuda seat has been strongly associated with the Barbuda People's Movement (BPM), a political party dedicated to representing the interests and autonomy of the island. The BPM has held the seat for the majority of the time since Antigua and Barbuda gained independence. Elections in Barbuda often focus on issues specific to the island, such as land rights, development, and the relationship with the central government on Antigua. The small population of Barbuda gives significant weight to individual votes, and elections are typically keenly contested within the island community.
