Every Day (novel)

Every Day is a young adult romance and speculative fiction novel by American author David Levithan, published in 2013. The novel explores themes of identity, love, gender, and morality through the unique premise of its protagonist, A, who wakes up in a different person's body every day. A has no permanent physical form and lives only one day in each life, experiencing the world through the eyes of various teenagers, both male and female, from diverse backgrounds and with a range of personalities and struggles.

The story centers around A's growing feelings for Rhiannon, a girl A meets while inhabiting the body of her boyfriend, Justin. A attempts to form a lasting connection with Rhiannon despite the limitations of their transient existence, leading to complex questions about the nature of love and the importance of physical form.

Every Day received generally positive reviews, with critics praising Levithan's imaginative concept and thoughtful exploration of identity. Some criticism was directed towards perceived shallowness in the characterization of the bodies A inhabits, as well as the ethical implications of A's actions.

The novel spawned two companion books: Another Day (2015), which retells the events of Every Day from Rhiannon's perspective, and Someday (2018), which continues A's story.

In 2018, Every Day was adapted into a film of the same name, directed by Michael Sucsy.
