Esteban Valencia (footballer, born 1972)

Esteban Valencia (born January 4, 1972) is a former Chilean football midfielder. He played primarily for Universidad de Chile, where he is considered a club legend.

Valencia began his professional career with Universidad de Chile in 1989. He was a key member of the Universidad de Chile squad that won the Chilean Primera División titles in 1994 and 1995, ending a 25-year drought for the club. He also won the Copa Chile in 1991.

Beyond Universidad de Chile, Valencia also played for other Chilean clubs, including Santiago Wanderers and Unión Española. He also had a stint playing in Greece with OFI Crete.

Valencia was a member of the Chilean national team, representing his country in several international competitions. He participated in the 1998 FIFA World Cup held in France.

After retiring as a player, Valencia has worked as a football coach. He has managed several Chilean clubs, including Deportes Melipilla. He has also held coaching positions within the youth system of Universidad de Chile. His son, also named Esteban Valencia, is also a professional footballer who has played for Universidad de Chile.
