Heavenly Bodies (1990s tag team)

The Heavenly Bodies were a professional wrestling tag team active primarily in the early to mid-1990s. The team was most prominently known for their appearances in Smoky Mountain Wrestling (SMW) and the World Wrestling Federation (WWF). The team consisted of "Gigolo" Jimmy Del Ray and "Sweet" Stan Lane, although there were variations of the team with different members.

In SMW, the Heavenly Bodies were managed by Jim Cornette and feuded extensively with The Rock 'n' Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson). Their matches were known for their high-paced action and innovative tag team maneuvers. They achieved significant success, holding the SMW Tag Team Championship multiple times.

In 1993, the Heavenly Bodies, with Tom Prichard replacing Stan Lane, debuted in the WWF. Still managed by Jim Cornette, they feuded with The Steiner Brothers and were positioned as a heel tag team. They participated in high-profile matches, including matches at SummerSlam and Survivor Series. While they provided exciting matches, they did not achieve the same championship success in the WWF as they did in SMW.

The Heavenly Bodies name has been used by different pairings throughout professional wrestling history, but the Del Ray/Lane and Del Ray/Prichard combinations are the most recognized and associated with the moniker. Their legacy is tied to their contributions to tag team wrestling, particularly in SMW, and their role in some memorable WWF matches during the mid-1990s.
