Erik Bredal (bishop)
Erik Bredal (1643 - 1719) was a Norwegian Lutheran bishop.
Born in Trondheim, Norway, Bredal studied theology at the University of Copenhagen. He served as a chaplain in Orkdal before becoming the pastor of Byneset Church. In 1699, he was appointed Bishop of Trondheim, a position he held until his death in 1719. Bredal is remembered for his devoutness and his efforts to improve the quality of religious life in his diocese. He oversaw the construction and renovation of several churches and was a strong advocate for education.
