History:
Vistara was a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines (SIA). Tata Sons held a 51% stake, while Singapore Airlines owned the remaining 49%. The airline aimed to offer a premium travel experience within India, focusing on high-quality service and a modern fleet. The brand name "Vistara" was derived from the Sanskrit word "Vistaar," meaning limitless expanse.

Vistara offered a three-class configuration: Business Class, Premium Economy, and Economy Class. It operated primarily on domestic routes within India, with a focus on major metropolitan cities. The airline was known for its on-time performance and customer service.
Fleet:
Vistara's fleet consisted primarily of Airbus A320 family aircraft and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft towards the end of its operation.
Merger with Air India:
In 2022, Tata Sons announced the merger of Vistara with Air India, also owned by Tata Sons. This merger aimed to consolidate Tata's aviation interests under a single brand, Air India. The merger was completed on May 7, 2024, with Vistara ceasing operations and its assets and employees being integrated into Air India. The Vistara brand was discontinued as part of the merger process.
