Ed Walker (baseball)
Edward Arthur Walker (born February 1, 1917, died January 14, 1997) was an American professional baseball player. A right-handed pitcher, Walker played briefly in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Detroit Tigers in 1944.
Walker's professional baseball career spanned from 1941 to 1950, interrupted by military service during World War II. He was signed by the Detroit Tigers organization. His MLB debut came during the war-shortened 1944 season, a period when many established players were serving in the armed forces. Walker appeared in 4 games for the Tigers, pitching a total of 7 innings. He did not record a decision (win or loss) and his earned run average (ERA) was 7.71.
Following his brief stint with the Tigers, Walker continued his career in the minor leagues. After retiring as a player, he remained involved in baseball as a scout. He passed away in 1997 at the age of 79.
