Echo Jazz

Echo Jazz was a German music award presented annually from 2010 to 2018 by the Deutsche Phono-Akademie (German Phonographic Academy), the cultural institute of the German record industry. It recognized outstanding achievements by musicians in the jazz genre. The award categories spanned a wide range of jazz styles, including instrumental, vocal, big band, and international contributions.

The Echo Jazz was intended to honor both established artists and emerging talents, highlighting the diversity and vitality of the jazz scene. Winners were selected by a jury of experts consisting of musicians, journalists, producers, and other industry professionals. The criteria for selection included artistic quality, originality, and commercial success.

In 2018, following significant controversy surrounding the main Echo Pop awards and accusations of antisemitism related to one of the winning acts, the Deutsche Phono-Akademie decided to abolish the Echo brand entirely. Consequently, the Echo Jazz was discontinued after its 2018 presentation.
