Drona (2008 film)
Drona is a 2008 Indian Hindi-language superhero fantasy film directed by Goldie Behl, starring Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Priyanka Chopra, Kay Kay Menon, and Ali Khan. The film revolves around Aditya (Abhishek Bachchan), a modern-day warrior believed to be the descendant of a line of ancient protectors called Dronas. He must embrace his destiny and learn to use his powers to protect a mysterious elixir and save the world from evil forces led by the sinister Riz Raizada (Kay Kay Menon).
The story combines elements of Hindu mythology and fantasy adventure. Aditya is initially unaware of his powers and struggles to accept his heritage. Sonia (Priyanka Chopra) acts as his protector and guide, helping him to understand his abilities and prepare for the challenges ahead. Riz Raizada seeks to obtain the elixir, believing it will grant him ultimate power.
The film was noted for its visual effects and action sequences, but it received largely negative reviews for its weak plot, confusing narrative, and poor character development. It was also a commercial failure at the box office. Despite its shortcomings, Drona remains a notable attempt at creating an indigenous superhero film within the Bollywood context, incorporating Indian mythology and visual spectacle.
