Épernon

Épernon is a commune in the Eure-et-Loir department in northern France, located approximately 70 kilometers southwest of Paris. It is situated on the Guesle river.

Historically, Épernon was the seat of the Duchy of Épernon, a title held by prominent figures during the 16th and 17th centuries, most notably Jean Louis de Nogaret de La Valette, Duke of Épernon, a favorite of King Henry III. The town's history is closely linked to this powerful noble family, who significantly influenced the political landscape of France during their time.
