Do No Harm (TV series)

Do No Harm is an American medical drama television series that aired on NBC in 2013. The series was created by David Schulner and starred Steven Pasquale as Dr. Jason Cole, a brilliant neurosurgeon with a dangerous secret: he has an evil alter ego named Ian Price who emerges every night at the same time.

The premise of the show revolves around Jason's attempts to keep his alter ego from destroying his life and career. Ian is everything Jason is not: impulsive, reckless, and amoral. He pursues Jason's girlfriend, Lena Solis (played by Alana de la Garza), and sabotages Jason's relationships with his colleagues. Jason takes a powerful experimental medication to suppress Ian, but the drug has unpredictable side effects.

The supporting cast included Ruta Gedmintas as Olivia Flynn, Jason's colleague and friend; Michael Esper as Dr. Kenneth Jordan, Jason's rival; and Phylicia Rashad as Dr. Vanessa Calder, Jason's mentor and boss.

Do No Harm struggled with low ratings and was canceled by NBC after only two episodes aired. The remaining episodes were later made available online. The series was criticized for its far-fetched premise and melodramatic storylines. While the show attempted to explore themes of duality and inner conflict, it was ultimately unable to connect with a large audience. The show's title is a reference to the Hippocratic Oath taken by medical professionals, highlighting the central conflict between Jason's duty to heal and Ian's inclination to cause harm.
