Pot Stand

A pot stand, also known as a trivet, is a protective object placed between a hot pot, pan, or dish and a surface such as a table or countertop. Its primary function is to prevent heat damage, such as scorching, melting, or discoloration, to the surface underneath.

Pot stands are typically made from heat-resistant materials like wood, metal (cast iron, stainless steel), ceramic, silicone, cork, or woven fibers. The design often incorporates gaps or raised sections to allow air circulation, further dissipating heat and reducing the transfer of heat to the underlying surface.

The term "pot stand" is often used interchangeably with "trivet," although "trivet" may also refer specifically to metal stands with three legs. The design of pot stands varies widely, ranging from simple and functional to decorative and ornate, often reflecting cultural or artistic styles.
