Didier François (journalist)

Didier François is a French journalist specializing in coverage of the Middle East. He is best known for being held hostage in Syria by the Islamic State (ISIS) from June 6, 2013, until April 19, 2014.

Prior to his capture, François worked as a senior reporter for Europe 1, a French radio station. He had reported from conflict zones including Iraq, Afghanistan, and Libya.

During his captivity, he was held with other French journalists, including Nicolas Hénin, Pierre Torrès, and Edouard Elias. The group was eventually released after negotiations.

Since his release, François has continued his career in journalism, often speaking publicly about his experiences as a hostage and the dangers faced by journalists in conflict zones. He has also written about the psychological impact of captivity and the importance of supporting victims of terrorism.
