Rockford IceHogs (UHL)

The Rockford IceHogs were a professional minor league ice hockey team based in Rockford, Illinois, that played in the United Hockey League (UHL) from 1999 to 2007. They were named after the IceHogs of the former Continental Hockey League and later the Colonial Hockey League. The team played their home games at the MetroCentre (now BMO Harris Bank Center).

During their time in the UHL, the IceHogs were a consistent contender, known for their strong fan base and community involvement. They won the UHL's Colonial Cup championship in 2007, defeating the Kalamazoo Wings in the final series.

Following the 2006-07 season, the UHL was renamed the International Hockey League (IHL). Shortly thereafter, the Rockford IceHogs franchise was purchased and became an American Hockey League (AHL) expansion team, affiliated with the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). The UHL/IHL franchise was subsequently sold and relocated to become the Chicago Hounds. Therefore, the Rockford IceHogs team in the UHL no longer exists, although the name was adopted by the current AHL team.
