Djezzy
Djezzy is a mobile network operator in Algeria. It is the second-largest mobile operator in the country, behind Mobilis and ahead of Ooredoo Algeria. Djezzy provides a range of telecommunications services, including voice, data, and mobile money.
The company was originally established as Orascom Telecom Algeria (OTA) and was owned by Egyptian businessman Naguib Sawiris's Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH). In 2012, a controlling stake in Djezzy was acquired by the Algerian government through the Fonds National d'Investissement (FNI). The transaction involved a complex series of financial arrangements.
Since the Algerian government's acquisition of the majority stake, Djezzy has continued to operate as a major player in the Algerian telecommunications market. It has invested in upgrading its network infrastructure and expanding its service offerings to meet the growing demand for mobile communications in Algeria.
