Adrian Smith (politician)
Adrian Smith (born December 19, 1970) is an American politician serving as the U.S. Representative for Nebraska's 3rd congressional district since 2007. A member of the Republican Party, Smith previously served in the Nebraska Legislature from 1999 to 2007.
Smith was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska. He graduated from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln with a bachelor's degree in business administration. Before entering politics, he worked in his family's retail business and as a marketing consultant.
In the Nebraska Legislature, Smith represented the 48th legislative district. He served on several committees, including the Appropriations Committee.
In the U.S. House of Representatives, Smith has served on the House Ways and Means Committee and the House Agriculture Committee, among others. He is generally considered a conservative Republican and has focused on issues related to agriculture, trade, and fiscal policy. He has frequently voted in line with the Republican Party platform.
