John Wood (footballer, born 1948)

John Wood (born 1948) is a former English professional footballer.

Wood played as a full-back, primarily at right-back. He began his career with Birmingham City in the late 1960s, making a number of appearances for the club in the First Division. He was known for his strong tackling and commitment.

He later moved to Sheffield United, where he continued to play First Division football during the 1970s. While with the Blades, Wood was a consistent performer and established himself as a reliable defender.

After his time at Sheffield United, Wood had a spell with Chesterfield. Following his departure from Chesterfield, his subsequent career is less well documented, but it is believed he played at a lower level of professional football.
