Gestigon

Gestigon was a German company specializing in gesture recognition technology for automotive and consumer electronics applications. Founded in 2011 and based in Bremen, Germany, Gestigon developed software solutions that enabled devices to understand and respond to hand gestures, using 3D sensors and computer vision algorithms.

The company's core technology revolved around its Carnival software platform, which provided real-time gesture recognition and tracking capabilities. Carnival could interpret a variety of hand gestures, allowing users to interact with systems without physical touch.

Gestigon focused primarily on integrating its technology into automotive infotainment systems, allowing drivers to control functions like navigation, media playback, and communication through hand gestures. They also explored applications in virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) environments, as well as smart home devices.

In 2017, Gestigon was acquired by Valeo, a global automotive supplier. Following the acquisition, Gestigon's technology and expertise were integrated into Valeo's portfolio of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) and in-car experience solutions. While the Gestigon brand name has largely disappeared, its underlying technology continues to be developed and deployed within Valeo.
