Different World (Uriah Heep album)
Different World is the nineteenth studio album by British rock band Uriah Heep, released in 1991. It marked a stylistic shift for the band, incorporating a more AOR (Album-Oriented Rock) sound influenced by contemporary hard rock and pop sensibilities.
The album featured a lineup of Mick Box (guitar), Bernie Shaw (vocals), Phil Lanzon (keyboards), Trevor Bolder (bass), and now, as of this album, drummer, Paul Francis. It was produced by Richard Dodd.
While "Different World" did not achieve significant commercial success in Uriah Heep's traditional markets, such as Europe, it found some audience in smaller regions and among dedicated fans. The songs explored themes of social commentary and personal reflection, consistent with some of Uriah Heep's previous work, though the musical arrangements and production were noticeably different.
Track listing included songs such as "Blood on Stone," "Cross That Line," "All God's Children," and "Different World." The album remains a point of discussion among Uriah Heep fans due to its departure from the band's earlier, more progressive and heavy rock style. It's often seen as an experimental phase in their discography.
