Avia BH-1
The Avia BH-1 was a Czechoslovakian single-seat, single-engine monoplane designed by Pavel Beneš and Miroslav Hajn at Avia in 1920. It holds the distinction of being the first aircraft designed and built entirely in Czechoslovakia after the formation of the country in 1918. The BH-1 was designed primarily for sport and training purposes. It was constructed of wood and fabric, and featured a low-wing cantilever monoplane design, a relatively advanced concept for its time. Though only one prototype was initially built, designated the BH-1 EXP, its success led to the development of improved variants. The aircraft played a significant role in establishing Avia as a prominent aircraft manufacturer and contributed to the development of Czechoslovakian aviation in its early years.
